Welcoming in this month, with open-mindedness, hope and a willingness to embrace the positive changes and growth that May can facilitate.
Prepare for your outdoor summer activities as we focus our yoga classes on stability and increase our strength and mobility. We will cover feet, knees, hips and how their function ties into your core.
In Gentle Hatha this month (Thursdays mornings) we will incorporate working with the Tight Ilio-Tibial Bands (IT Bands), a thick, fibrous band of tissue that runs along the outside of the leg from the hip to the knee. It plays a crucial role in hip and knee stabilization, particularly during activities like running and walking. There are effective ways to deal with tight IT bands and our Gentle Hatha class gives us the opportunity to work (stretch) together.
We will continue to explore and improve standing balance poses to build confidence in Tree Pose (Vrksasana), Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III), and more.
Our practice of yoga always offers an extended opportunity to pause, offering space to reset, breathe, and reconnect. “Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which
you can retreat at any time.” — Hermann Hesse
In loving kindness,
Shelley
