In our yoga practice, if we can accept that our body is constantly changing and is not a fixed thing, then we can develop more awareness of our internal processes. The more we will feel and notice what is going on within us, the more we get to know ourselves. The foundation of yoga may also be about waking up, being sensitive and for example, feeling each individual vertebrae independently and extend to building increased sensitivity to all parts of the body, both internally and externally.
So here we have the science of “Neuroplasticity”: the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life.
Neuroplasticity allows the neurons (nerve cells) in the brain to compensate for injury and disease, and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment. Wow! I am continually impressed with the design of our body...
I do think, to a degree, that most of us generally do not acknowledge the extent of our inability to feel our own bodies. We are in a state of detachment, it’s time to change that - as you can see, it would be beneficial in so many ways.
Let’s get back on that mat, and reconnect!!
