The winter blahs can certainly get you feeling sleepy, lethargic, and downright uninspired. And another 6 weeks ahead, according to the ground hog! Rather than fighting the feeling that tells you to hibernate, why not listen to your body?
Rest more at this time of year and follow nature’s cues. When you feel tired and yet it's only 8:30 p.m., that's not time to muscle through and keep working, it's time to feel your body and listen. Getting a full night’s rest isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a smart way to feel better and be healthier. A sure sign you need more sleep is if you are waking up already tired.
Eat better and try not to be a slave to your food cravings in these wintry months, look for alternatives, enjoy cooking the heavier food as stews and curries….explore new recipes or exchange recipes with friends.
Going outdoors on a regular basis instead of removing those activities get fresh air, natural light, and exercise from your day, get social about it if you need the encouragement to move and invite a friend, the time outside will help you to feel less sloth-like.
Also it’s OK to spend time alone if you need the space to work on indoor projects as you know the days are getting lighter and the spring list will be here soon. So perhaps an indoor day is good to be gentle with yourself as when you are ready as the season turns you will emerge revitalized and ready!
Live in balance in all seasons!
