Everyone knows that eating healthy is easier to follow when you are in your normal daily routine. Making healthy food choices gets a lot harder when you are on vacation. Depending on where you are traveling and the length of time are important components in your planning. Staying on track is challenging, but there are ways to create balance in your travel routine. Do not throw all of your healthy habits out the window and then think “well when I get back I will just start in again.”
Some suggestions for healthy snacks in the car/plane
At airports (some now have those yoga rooms), there is always some space to practice. If on a road trip get out at rest stops, spend 10 mins doing your favorite yoga postures. You can do yoga in your seat as well…think about incorporating these helpful suggestions, your mind and body will feel so much and more relaxed.
Seated:
Cat/Cow
Twists
Seated pigeon
Standing:
Mountain
Dangle
Chair
Destination reached;
Some Sun Salutations
Before bedtime …legs up the wall, relax your upper body, close your eyes, and relax here as long as you’d like. Be sure to pause for a few seconds with your knees bend and soles of your feet flat against the wall before coming out of the pose.

- Granola (like Purely Elizabeth) my favorite with cashew/almond milk
- Raw trail mix (look for “raw nuts” that don’t have any added oils)
- Dried fruits or fresh fruit
- Kale chips
- Gluten-free crackers with hummus
